Customer Reviews: Great buy for the most underrated Microsoft product ever! July 19, 2010 RSolberg 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been using this device for a couple of weeks now and don't know how I've lived without a Windows home server (WHS) for so long. While I hear there is a pending refresh to the WHS operating system, this product does absolutely everything I could ever ask. With multiple laptops at home and a PC in the office, being able to share data between machines seemed rather cumbersome (even for an IT professional).
In less than 2 hours, I had this machine setup and running on all of my PC's and my iMac. Setup was fairly easy for me, but I am not the average consumer. I think that the average Joe may find the setup a bit more difficult than a home PC, but it was not too crazy.
I'm not sure if this device is upgradeable to the new WHS when it comes out ("vail"), but for now I'd say this is a solid buy. I'm even looking at using add-ons for backing up all my server data with Amazon S3 storage. This will provide almost enterprise level disaster recovery for all of your computer's data. I'm only looking at sending S3 some of my key irreplaceable data like pictures which will help keep the cost minimal.
